In this image, a silver stained brain section reveals neuropathology in mouse hippocampus 10 days after neonatal infection with the French Polynesian strain of the Zika virus. Degeneration of microglia (black bushy profiles) can be seen in white matter along with neurodegeneration (brown profiles) in the CA1 and dentate gyrus. (Pages 1145–1161).
