In the human brain the AAC is the emotional executor - the highest, most recently evolved area of cortex in the mammalian brain. Therefore it is the highest nervous center in the subprimate mammals. Attempts to demonstrate cognition/thought in subprimate mammals have all failed. Cognition - thought - is uniquely a primate ability and is entirely dependent on the evolution of Brodmanns areas 9, 10, 47, 46 & 9/46 in the primate lineage.
