Reconstructions of GABAergic neurons of a novel large type accumulating in the tail of the striatum (TS). They are detectable using a neurofilament marker SMI-32 (green) and parvalbumin immunohistochemistry (blue). These TSL (TS large) neurons elongate skewed dendrites toward the region where dopaminergic axons (red) are relatively sparse. Importantly, this region selectively receives inputs from the primary auditory cortex. For more information, see the article by Ogata et al. (pages 8078–8094). Cover image: Takaichi Fukuda.
