About the Cover

This confocal image displays labeling of MAP2-positive pyramidal neurons (green) together with muscarinic receptor subunits m1 (blue) and m2 (magenta) in the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex (ACC). Alexandra Tsolias and colleagues found that muscarinic receptor expression is strongest in ACC area 25. See the article by Tsolias et al. for more information on how muscarinic receptor expression on distinct pyramidal and inhibitory neurons in ACC subregions provides insight into the way discrete ACC circuits related to cognitive-emotional processing are modulated.
