The primary motor cortex was thought to significantly modulate sensory experiences mediated by the barrel cortex during movement. However, selectively inhibiting motor-sensory axons using the opsin eOPN3 (red), did not influence neuronal activity patterns and membrane potentials in the barrel cortex during whisker movements.
