Updated May 2023
JNeurosci, the Society for Neuroscience’s (SfN) flagship journal, publishes an issue each Wednesday and Early Release articles every day.
Join SfN’s Media List: Credentialed reporters can request (media@sfn.org) to receive press releases and a weekly email on Tuesdays containing embargoed Early Release articles and recently published JNeurosci content, as well as content from SfN’s open access journal eNeuro.
Embargo Policy: The embargo for JNeurosci Early Release articles distributed in SfN’s weekly media email lifts at 1 p.m. Eastern time the following Monday. The embargo for all other articles lifts at the time of online publication.
SfN encourages study authors to talk to reporters about their work in advance of publication as long as the authors and reporters are both aware of and follow the embargo policy. Reporters and public information officers (PIOs) should not distribute embargoed information to the public before the embargo has lifted, and PIOs must clearly indicate on their press releases the embargo date and time. Please contact the media@sfn.org for clarification of these policies.
Image Permissions: For permission to use images published in JNeurosci, please contact jnpermissions@sfn.org with full citation for study, figure number, and a brief explanation of how material will be used. For nonmedia use, refer to the journal’s policies.
Public Information Officers: PIOs registered with EurekAlert! receive notifications when researchers from their institutions are publishing content in SfN journals. The full-text version of those articles are made available to PIOs via EurekAlert! or they can contact the SfN to gain access to those research papers. PIOs are encouraged to reach out to media@sfn.org with additional questions.
Expert Sources: Reporters can contact media@sfn.org for recommendations on expert sources who may be able to provide comment on neuroscience-related stories.
