Synapses from wild-type and laminin β2 chain-deficient retinas were observed in transmission electron micrographs and placed into one of four categories. Most wild-type synapses consisted of the typical triad arrangement (see Fig. 7A), whereas most laminin β2 chain-deficient synapses were abnormal.
