  • Amplitude and duration at half-maximal amplitude for responses recorded from CA1 pyramidal cells in response to local synaptic stimulation in control, unlesioned cultures (n = 7 cells), cultures lesioned 7 d earlier (n = 8 cells), and unlesioned cultures pretreated with DNQX and AP5 for 7 d (n = 6 cells). *Significantly longer than the response to five stimuli at 50 or 100 Hz in unlesioned cultures (p < 0.01; Mann–Whitney U test). **Significantly longer than the response to five stimuli at 50–100 Hz in unlesioned cultures (p < 0.05; Mann–Whitney U test). Other values are not significantly different from unlesioned cultures (Mann–Whitney U test). Cells were held at −70 mV using CsF-filled patch pipettes.
