  • Basal activation (phosphorylation) states of ERK1/2, p38, and the PI3K pathway proteins PTEN, Akt, mTOR, p70S6K, and S6 were measured in untreated hippocampal slices from Fmr1 KO and WT, the majority of which were used for measurement of protein synthesis. Results are expressed as percent average WT ± SEM. For all proteins, no significant increase was seen in Fmr1 KO as compared to WT. In contrast, a small but significant decrease in the activation state of p38 (t test, *p < 0.05) was observed in Fmr1 KO. For each animal, 1–2 slices were analyzed.
