Cardiotrophin-like cytokine (CLCF1) modulates mesenchymal stem cell osteoblastic differentiation
2019, Journal of Biological ChemistryNeuronal Activity in Ontogeny and Oncology
2017, Trends in CancerCitation Excerpt :While the function of the nervous system in hematological cancer progression remains to be elucidated, neurotrophin signaling does have an established role. A recently described neurotrophin, novel neurotrophin-1 (NNT-1, also known as B cell-stimulating factor-3, BSF-3), was linked to the growth and survival of multiple myeloma (MM) in vitro [139–141]. Neurotrophins have also been implicated in MM progression.
Neural Regeneration as a Disease-Modifying Therapeutic Strategy for Alzheimer's Disease
2017, Neuroprotection in Alzheimer's DiseaseCardiotrophin-like cytokine factor 1 (CLCF1) and neuropoietin (NP) signalling and their roles in development, adulthood, cancer and degenerative disorders
2015, Cytokine and Growth Factor ReviewsCitation Excerpt :CLCF1, gene name Clcf1/CLCF1, is also known as cardiotrophin-like cytokine (CLC), and was earlier known as new neurotrophin-1 (NNT-1) or B-cell stimulatory factor-3 (BSF-3). CLCF1 acts as two possible “compound cytokines”: either bound to the soluble ciliary neurotrophic factor receptor (sCNTFR) or to cytokine receptor-like factor 1 (CRLF1); the latter is also known as cytokine like factor 1 (CLF-1) and NR6 [1–3]. These compound cytokines will be referred to as CLCF1/CRLF1 and CLCF1/sCNTFR.
Janus kinase 2/signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 inhibitors attenuate the effect of cardiotrophin-like cytokine factor 1 and human focal segmental glomerulosclerosis serum on glomerular filtration barrier
2015, Translational ResearchCitation Excerpt :The heterodimer supports the survival of embryonic motor and sympathetic neurons and induces differentiation of fetal neuroepithelial cells to astrocytes.18,20 Studies using B cells demonstrated the role of CLCF1 as an effector of JAK-STAT signaling16,18 and its regulatory function in the immune system through stimulation of B-cell proliferation and immunoglobulin (Ig) production.21 Also, CLCF1-CRLF1 complex is required for fetal kidney development.22,23
The cytokines cardiotrophin-like cytokine/cytokine-like factor-1 (CLC/CLF) and ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF) differ in their receptor specificities
2012, CytokineCitation Excerpt :While these results point toward roles of CNTF and CLC/CLF on cells expressing CNTFR, both cytokines are believed to have immunoregulatory functions: CNTF is produced by T cells [9] and activates an alternative tripartite receptor expressed by immune cells comprising IL-6Rα, LIFRβ and gp130 [31]. CLC and CLF are expressed in the immune system and both cDNAs were cloned from T cells [32–34]. Injection of high doses of CLC or overexpression of CLC in mice results in B cell expansion, despite the lack of CNTF receptor expression by these cells [33,35].
