2019, Neurobiology of Learning and MemoryModulation of eyeblink conditioning through sensory processing of conditioned stimulus by cortical and subcortical regions
2019, Behavioural Brain ResearchCitation Excerpt :Disterhoft’s group [53,54] and Powell’s group [23,26,49,55–60] have shown the subregion-specific involvement of mPFC in EBC and addressed how mPFC modulates EBC learning depending on the parameters of US. Kronforst-Collins et al. [53] and Weible et al. [54] reported that damage of posterior mPFC (mostly including caudal anterior cingulate cortex (cACC), i.e., Brodmann’s area 24 in rabbits), but not anterior mPFC (mostly including prelimbic area (PrL), i.e., Brodman’ area 32 in rabbits), influenced the acquisition of tEBC in rabbits, indicating that the posterior but not the anterior mPFC is involved in the modulation of tEBC. However, similar experiments by Mclaughlin [56] arrived at a completely opposite conclusion.
