2022, Analytical BiochemistryCitation Excerpt :Human fibroblast growth factor 1 (hFGF1) is a mitogen protein that stimulates the growth of fibroblast cells in connective tissues [1,2]. The physiological function of hFGF1 is to regulate cellular response during proliferation, angiogenesis, differentiation and migration [3–5]. hFGF1 binds with high affinity to its extracellular tyrosine kinase receptor, FGFR, to trigger signaling pathways such as phosphoinositol (PLCγ), phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase (Pl3K/Akt) and ras-dependent mitogen activated protein kinase (MAPK) [6,7].

2017, BoneCitation Excerpt :The effects of FGF9 on osteoblasts and progenitors are complex. In addition to delivering a mitogenic signal in a variety of cells, FGF9 is also involved in cell differentiation, motility, and survival [43]. Experiments have suggested that FGF9 serves as an endogenous inhibitor of chondrocyte differentiation [6,44].
