Somatostatin receptor subtype 1 is a PDZ ligand for synapse-associated protein 97 and a potential regulator of growth cone dynamics
2008, NeuroscienceCitation Excerpt :The transient expression pattern suggests that sst1 may play a role in early cortical development, possibly in the growth and guidance of axons and formation of synapses. Such developmental roles for somatostatin peptides and receptors have been proposed earlier (Gonzalez et al., 1992; Burgunder, 1994; Blake, 2001; Yacubova and Komuro, 2002). Remarkably, the transient expression of sst1 observed in mouse cortex was reproduced by mouse cortical neurons in culture.
