Impulsivity is related to overhasty risk learning in attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder: A computational psychiatric approach
2021, Journal of Psychiatric ResearchCitation Excerpt :JTC due to dopamine dysregulation has been shown to be a sensitive marker for Parkinson's disease (de Rezende Costa et al., 2016), and theoretically, JTC is considered a precision imbalance problem (Adams et al., 2016). Thus, it is not surprising that the orbitofrontal cortex, which receives dopaminergic projections from the ventral tegmental area and is particularly important for the neural representation of reward value (Cetin et al., 2004), is highlighted by the data-driven CPM approach. One strength of our study is that we used a computational psychiatric approach to investigate the pathology in ADHD patients, focused on overt risk-taking.
Dopamine D1 receptors in the medial orbitofrontal cortex support effort-related responding in rats
2020, European NeuropsychopharmacologyCitation Excerpt :Thus, it is conceivable that intra-mOFC D1R activity supports value-based signaling thereby modulating high effort responding. Notably, D1R blockade in the lateral OFC (lOFC) also reduced effort-related responding (Cetin et al., 2004). While mOFC and lOFC in part mediate distinct functions, there is also evidence that some functions of the lOFC are redundant to mOFC (Izquierdo, 2017).
Quantity versus quality: Convergent findings in effort-based choice tasks
2019, Behavioural ProcessesDecline of prefrontal cortical-mediated executive functions but attenuated delay discounting in aged Fischer 344 × brown Norway hybrid rats
2017, Neurobiology of AgingCitation Excerpt :Age comparisons of latency data were conducted using a multifactor ANOVA, with age as a between-subjects factor, and both choice type (2 levels, small and large) and delay (5 levels) as within-subjects factors. This task evaluated rats' motivation to press a lever to obtain food reward and was based on a design used previously by our lab and others (Barr and Phillips, 1999; Cetin et al., 2004; Kheramin et al., 2005; Mendez et al., 2009). Instrumental responding for food reward was assessed using a progressive ratio schedule of reinforcement, on which the number of lever presses required to earn a reward increased with each successive reward earned (1, 4, 10, 20, 35, …).
